Volunteer opportunities
The success of the PTSA depends on a committed team of parents. Join the team, become involved, and help make this year the most successful year Kennedy has ever had! If you would like to volunteer to help in any of the areas below, please send an email to volunteer@jfkptsa.org
Staff Appreciation – a staff appreciation breakfast is conducted at the beginning and end of the year. Volunteers are needed to help.
Back to School Night – we need 5-7 volunteers to help one evening a few days before the event to assemble PTSA handouts, and 8-10 volunteers to help on the night of the event.
MCCPTA Rep (2) – Two persons are needed to attend monthly meeting at the County level to help ensure that Kennedy is represented and informed of important issues affecting our school.
MCCPTA Delegate (2) – These two positions are very important and provide input on major policy decisions often at the Board of Education level.
NAACP Rep – works closely with the NAACP local chapter on education issues.
Fundraising – this team will coordinate PTSA fundraising activities.
Volunteer Team – this team will will work to ensure the there are enough volunteers for PTSA sponsored events.
After Prom – Volunteers are needed from every grade level. There are never too many volunteers for the After Prom.
Membership – This will be the last year for the long time lead for PTSA membership, this is a great opportunity to participate and learn.
Directory – This will be the last year for the long time lead for the school directory, this is a great opportunity to participate and learn.
Listserv Moderator – This will be the last year for the long time lead for the listserv, this is a great opportunity to participate and learn.
Webmaster – This will be the last year for the long time lead for the PTSA website, this is a great opportunity to participate and learn.
Communications – this team has oversight of the PTSA web site, and other means of mass communications. Ideas may include creating a PTSA: blog, WIKIS; Podcast; Social bookmarks; Social networking (Myspace, Facebook, You Tube). We want student and their ideas for this team!
Newsletter – The PTSA Newsletter was quite successful (see archive tab above). Due to a lack of team members they have not been printed. Volunteers are needed to revitalize this important communication tool. Student are encouraged to join.
Community Outreach – JFK is truly a community school. A team of persons is needed to outreach to the local community so we might explore areas of opportunity for mutual benefit.
Back to School Picnic – this is a new idea that a potluck picnic is held at the school in August or September as an outdoor event to welcome new students and their parents. Help plan for the first picnic in 2009.
